Chasing News with My Dad

Before we left the house, I had no idea what to expect. I knew that I would be spending the night with my dad and a couple of his friends, around his age, listening to some scratchy police scanners.

When we arrived at the Yorkdale parking lot, I saw 3 other news stations and a crowd of guys with the age ranging from their early twenties and up. My dad introduced me to his friend Jeremy, who was extremely nice and energetic, and said it would get more exciting later on in the night when an accident occurs. The only thing I knew for sure was that I would definitely be tired when the sun came up. My dad’s friends from City-TV, John and Pedro, were nice enough to allow me to take a picture with their work trucks.
We listened to the scanners for hours, but we didn't hear any major news. My dad decided that he would take me on a tour of the Entertainment District in the heart of downtown Toronto. Given the fact that it was 3 am in the morning, anything in downtown would be a sight to see.

As we were driving, people came stumbling out of the bars and started waving for cabs even though there were no cabs in sight. The people were so drunk, that it was nerve racking to watch them stand close to the cars, and walk across the street when the light was red.

Girls walked barefoot or were carried by their friends because 4 inch stilettos were too much to handle. At one point, a fight broke out and a guy dashed passed our car, followed by four others who didn’t look too happy.  As we were leaving we saw a bright yellow and black Lamborghini.

Life in Toronto. Too Fast Too Furious.
